Step 1: Create the project

Now you'll create your project from the starter and run it on your computer.

Before you start

  • Node.js 22.20 or newer
  • Git
  • A terminal

Do it

Type each command on its own and wait for it to finish before the next one.

Prefer the browser? Open the starter in CodeSandbox. It runs the same commands for you, so you can skip to the result.

Open in CodeSandboxView on GitHub

The starter repo is not public yet. These links use the placeholder OWNER/REPO.

Need a template or SDK help? Open chat.

On your computer: check your Node.js version first.

bash
node -v

Expected output

text
v22.20.0

If you see an error: command not found means Node.js is not installed. Install it from nodejs.org, then open a new terminal.

Copy the starter into a new folder. Run each command on its own.

bash
git clone <this-repo-url> implemented-stream

Expected output

text
Cloning into 'implemented-stream'...
Resolving deltas: 100%, done.
bash
cp -r implemented-stream/examples/starter my-site
cd my-site

Expected output

text
(no output)

Install the packages.

bash
npm install

Expected output

text
added 163 packages in 14s

If you see an error: ERESOLVE or EBADENGINE means your Node.js is too old. Check node -v again.

Start the local server.

bash
npm run dev

Expected output

text
  vitepress v1.6.x
  ➜ Local: http://localhost:5173/

Result

Open the Local URL. You see a homepage titled My Site with three zone cards.
